This exclusive tour begins with a guided visit of the interiors of the magnificent Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral.

Skipping the line and lead by a licensed guide you will get inside Florence Cathedral, a treasure chest of inestimable artistic treasures, you will be immediately struck by the elegance of the spaces of the three naves.This exclusive tour begins with a guided visit of the evocative early Christian crypt of Santa Reparata on which the present Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore was erected in the 13th century. Santa Reparata, founded in the sixth century, was the ancient cathedral of the city and houses the tomb of Filippo Brunelleschi, the brilliant architect of the dome of the Cathedral. After this first visit, lead by your expert Guide, you will enjoy the beauty of the splendid marble choir of Bandinelli, the complex of the precious stained-glass windows worked by Donatello, Ghiberti and Andrea del Castagno and the singular and mysterious clock by Paolo Uccello. You will be also surprised to be able to walk on a marvelous carpet of polychrome marbles. Then, looking up, the immense precious interior of the Dome entirely frescoed by Vasari will appear, the biggest fresco in the world. The Brunelleschi's famous Dome is the largest ever built in masonry and the incomparable icon of Renaissance architecture.

Then, you will have the chance to get to one of the exclusive terraces of the Cathedral, where to enjoy your first-row position on the magnificent scenery surrounding you, dominated by the amazing Brunelleschi’s Dome. From this breath-taking location, you will experience the incredible sensation of being able to “touch” part of the city center and admire the wonderful hills surrounding it. At the end of the guided tour, you can continue your visit on your own, directly from the north terrace, without any additional queue, using your ticket to climb even higher, up to the magnificent Dome, where you can enjoy a spectacular 360° view of Florence, from its highest location.

  • Appropriate clothing is mandatory to visit places of worship: access to the Cathedral is allowed only if equipped with suitable clothing: It is forbidden entry with shorts, bare shoulders, sandals, hats and sunglasses.
  • Access is not allowed with bulky bags and backpacks.
  • Please note that this tour is not available for children 0-7 years old.
  • Children from 8 to 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult
  • Number of steps to reach the top of the Terrace 153 and from the Terrace to the Top of the Dome 310 = total of 463 steps

It is mandatory to arrive 30 minutes early at the meeting point because, before the visit, after receiving the entrance ticket, it is mandatory to deposit all the objects required by the Regulations and the following types of bags at the cloakroom (Piazza Duomo, 38/r):

  • Backpacks of any bulk or size and any bag designed to be worn on the back;
  • Bags, suitcases, parcels, bags and containers in general that exceed the dimensions of 35cm x 30cm x 15cm:
  • Any object which, in the unquestionable judgment of the staff in charge, may constitute a danger to other visitors or to the integrity and safety of the structure.

Attention: baggage retrieval must take place at the end of the visit according to the scheduled time. In any case, the duration of the deposit cannot exceed the closing time of the cloakroom.

Wonderful tour and wonderful view

My family and I had a great experience with this tour. Our tour guide took us into the Duomo through a different door. She gave us many fascinating historical tidbits about the basilica and the construction of the Duomo. We climbed all the way to the top (not as arduous as I thought it would be) where we enjoyed a splendid panorama of Florence.

Overall very interesting and attractive tour with our guide, a very nice and knowledgeable lady. If you want to climb the Dome you can not be claustrophobic but you have to be in health: it's a little challenge but the view from the terrace is impressive! Highly recommend this tour. Don't forget that the ticket is valid 72 hours for admission to the other monuments in the square and to the Opera del Duomo museum!
