Depart for Siena, driving through the lovely Chianti vineyards, getting there while the town is still immersed in early morning drowsiness; the perfect time of day to wander around the pedestrian-friendly heart of this beautiful hilltop town, drenched in history. Upon arrival in Siena you will have some free time to stroll through the most famous buildings of Siena at your own pace.

A short journey then takes us to a family run wine-farm in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. Here we shall have a delicious, traditional Tuscan lunch served with typical wines from our region. After lunch, departure for San Gimignano, Unesco world heritage, famous for the still intact mediaeval town planning. It is often nicknamed the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages” because its famous tall, narrow towers create a skyline that looks a bit like a modern city.  Here you have free time to explore the town centre, the charming craftsmen’s shops along the cobbled stone streets and small squares.

From San Gimignano, we drive past hilltop hamlets, or little churches, scattered over some of the most beautiful and enchanting countryside. We finally wind down the hillsides towards the coast, to Pisa, our last destination for the day. Getting off the coach, we reach the Field of Miracles, a green grass field dominated by the dazzling white buildings of the Cathedral or Duomo, the Tower and the Baptistery - exquisite examples of Pisan Romanesque architecture: the Leaning Tower is almost 56 meters tall (about 183 ft). It leans at about 4 degrees, making it one of the most famous and iconic buildings in the world. You are in one of the most renowned places in the world: revel in it, take creative photographs or wander off down the local streets.

We joined the Highlights of Tuscany Tour with Caf Tours yesterday and we have to say that we are really satisfied. We loved the whole tour and we are happy to have chosen the option which doesn't include the guide in Siena because we had some friends there who guided us through the wonderful narrow streets during our free time. The lunch was very good and also the Chianti wines.

Nice full day tour

Travel by comfortable double decker bus with two guides for the group tour. Considered semi independent because upon arrival to these areas you have free time to explore once you are taken to a meeting point and given a time to be back. This worked fine for my husband and I because we were able to do some shopping, picture taking, eating gelato. The guides give you recommendations on some places to visit or stop. Lunch at the winery wasvery good. Lovely place, the antipasto plate at lunch with meat, cheese and bread was good and typical Italian pasta. Pisa sights definitely worth a visit, but the town itself nothing special. Overall very nice full day tour and do highly recommend it.

This trip was good if you want to explore a bit of Tuscany. I felt I spent enough time in each place. The guide was good. A lot of people however, would have been better with a smaller group.
